Cathy Repola announced Monday that she will retire as national executive director of IATSE Local 700, the Association of Film Editors, effective at the end of January 2025.
Repola has been with the Society of Editors for 32 years, holding his current position since 2016.
“Working for a guild is a very rewarding career,” Repola said. “I have always had a deep commitment to the Guild and our mission, and a deep affection for our members. Now, I have reached a point in my life where I want to shift my priorities to the people I love and the On friends.
“Kathy has been an integral leader for the Association over the past eight years,” said Association President Alan Heim. “She has helped lead us to successfully complete some of the most difficult and complex contracts in our history. negotiated and worked through many challenging times and did it all with extraordinary courage and grace. Whoever succeeds her will have some very big shoes to fill.
President Heim will appoint a search committee to find Repola’s replacement. The final selection must be approved by the Association’s Board of Directors.
The Film Editors Guild is the largest union representing post-production professionals in the entertainment industry. The organization, headquartered in Los Angeles and New York, has about 9,000 members, including photo editors, sound editors, sound mixers and other professionals. MPEG is Local 700 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).
