Chappell Roan debuts new country song in her musical guest appearance saturday night live.
The 26-year-old pop star kicked off the music portion of the John Mulaney-hosted series on Nov. 2 with an energetic and elaborate rendition of her hit song from her 2023 debut album “Pink Pony Club” 》, The Rise and Fall of the Midwestern Princess. The Studio 8H stage was decorated with a backdrop of throne-like chairs and digital galloping ponies, while the singer wore a dramatic red wig with white stripes, heavy makeup and a shimmering white gown.
In her second theater performance, Ron premiered “The Giver,” a country-inflected song in which she confidently proclaimed her ability to “get the job done” and satisfy women better than any man companion. In the spoken-word portion of the violin-driven track, she says, “All country boys think they know how to treat women right. Well, only women know how to treat women right. She got the job done.”

Later in the song, Ron sings: “You don’t have to tell me / It’s just who I am / So take it like a taker / ‘Cause baby I’m a giver.”
Saturday’s show marks Ron’s saturday night live Debut. In late October, the singer seemed to tease her next musical era in an Instagram post, in which she shared some selfies and hinted at the follow-up to her breakout debut record.
“Album came out of the blue a bit in my opinion but now it’s time to welcome a hot new bombshell into the villa,” she wrote on the photo, referencing Love Island’s slogan for welcoming new contestants, which left fans speculating She is working on her sophomore project.
An album could follow the release of Roan’s debut album, The Rise and Fall of the Midwestern Princess. Following a string of headline-grabbing performances, including at Coachella and the Gov Ball 2024, the 14-track project debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
