This week on the Greatest Pop Stars Podcast, we’ve begun unveiling our top 10 list of the greatest pop stars of 2024 — though we’re still a few days away from revealing the top two (will Announced on December 10th) 3), we are already among the many artists who are being strongly considered.
In our latest episode, we’re joined by host Andrew Unterberger Advertising board pride Editor Stephen Daw and staff writer Hannah Dailey talk about the artists we reveal this Wednesday and Thursday (December 18-19), Nos. 6-3. We start with No. 6 Ariana Grande, a multi-century pop star whose 2024 is off to a great start but threatens to be overshadowed by an incredibly crowded summer, now ‘s ending stronger than it started. we discuss our feelings eternal sunshine and evil And discuss how long we might actually have to wait before we next get new music from her.

After that, in fourth place is Chappell Roan (1:05:30), the absolute supernova of pop stars in 2024, emerging from the realm of cult heroes this year to emerge in the mainstream . We discuss what 2024 means for pop stars in general, and how someone like Roan, who was once considered mainly a niche artist, can without a doubt become one of the biggest stars in the world, and we marvel at how she’s able to dominate this Only one new song is released at the same time a year. We also explore what the next year or two will look like for Rowan, as she adjusts to her crazy new living circumstances and (hopefully) prepares for a globe-conquering second album.
Finally, in third place (1:42:30) is Taylor Swift, already one of the greatest pop singers of all time. We discussed whether her ranking on this list is too high, too low, or just right. We also look back at her chart-conquering legacy tortured poets department and her globe-conquering Eras tour, and wondering what the hell she can do next to try and follow it all up. (Don’t worry, we have ideas.)
