I’m honored to be featured on the ARRI website this week after being interviewed about my experience shooting with the Alexa Classic.
As I outlined before This article, I chose to break from convention for our micro-budget feature PSYCHOSYNTHESIS and shoot in 4:3 using an Alexa Classic Plus purchased through ARRI’s CPO program.
I’m really excited about what ARRI is doing with their CPO (pre-owned) cameras because they’re really opening the door for low-budget filmmakers to get the highest quality results on set and in post. Not so long ago, low-budget independent films were destined to be shot entirely on digital SLRs, whether or not that was their best format.
But now, Alexa has been around long enough that the price of used bodies and kits has dropped significantly, making it a viable option for filmmakers on a budget. Not to mention, ARRI’s CPO program gives you the added confidence of knowing you’re using a camera kit that’s certified to shoot professionally on location.
I’ll share more about my experience with this camera soon (including how I now use it with modified Leica R lenses), but for now you can read more on the ARRI website.
You can access the full article with quotes from the interview on ARRI.com here.
I’ll be sharing some more exciting news about the film in the coming weeks as we navigate the world of film festivals, distributors, and buyers. Stay tuned for more updates as things progress!
