Chris Taylor, the former president and CEO of Blackstone’s MNRK Music Group, has launched a new music company called Hall of Fame Artists.
Hall of Fame Artist will be responsible for management, recording and music publishing and will be based in Los Angeles. The company also has employees in New York, Miami, Toronto and Vancouver in North America.
Artists and comedians currently represented by Hall of Fame include Cymande, Arkells, Kiefer, Lights, Brittany Brave and more.
The company said it will soon announce new signings for its management, recording and publishing divisions.
Hall of Fame’s management team includes industry veterans Keith HagenLong-time public relations and marketing strategist for artists including Kenny Rogers, Paul McCartney, TOTO and Paul Weller.
He brought his list of managers to the HOF team.
Additional team members include touring and merchandise specialist Sarah Osgoode (Tragically Hip, Arkells, Lights); radio promotion executive Polo Brewster (Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Tory Lanez); and marketing team members Kultar “KC” Chohan and Kate Stronczer.
Taylor began practicing law at Sanderson Taylor in 1997 and represents Canadian artists including Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne and Tom Cochrane.
In 2004, while still working at Sanderson Taylor, Chris Taylor co-founded Last Gang Entertainment with Montreal music mogul Donald Tarlton to release Metric’s debut album, Old world underground, where are you now?
In 2006, Taylor co-founded her own law firm, Taylor Mitsopulos Klein Oballa, which represents law firms including Drake, Avril Lavigne, Billy Talent, Three Days Grace, Alexisonfire, Nelly Furtado and Gordon Lightfoot.
To balance Last Gang and his law firm, Taylor sold Last Gang to Entertainment One (eOne) in 2016, becoming president of the company’s music division in the process.
The eOne business was eventually sold to Hasbro in 2019 for $3.8 billion. $385 million.
