Coldplay becomes the latest artist to launch an interactive in-app experience on TikTok to promote a new album. Moon Music (Parlophone).
TikTok said the new Album Hub, released today (October 4), will “engage fans around the world and provide unique, fan-centric initiatives that allow users to explore the band’s content.”
Coldplay fans can also purchase exclusive merchandise and “get a Coldplay-themed profile frame” through the center of the TikTok store (U.S. only).
Coldplay’s partnership with TikTok comes five months after the platform launched an in-app experience for Taylor Swift’s album tortured poets department.
In June, the platform also launched a Taylor Swift interactive experience to celebrate “The Eras” tour.
Other recent collaborations with superstar artists on the platform include the launch of the Fan Spotlight feature with Billie Eilish in May.
TikTok also launched a dedicated in-app experience to promote Post Malone’s country album. F-1 trillion, In August and July, it launched an in-app hub for BTS star Jimin to promote his album meditation.
To access the new in-app experience, TikTok users can search for “Coldplay,” “MOON MUSiC,” or interact with video hosts alongside Coldplay (@coldplay) content.
Fans can access exclusive content while completing four “missions,” including adding Coldplay’s new single “ALL MY LOVE” to the streaming app of their choice using the Add to Music App feature, adding Coldplay ‘s exclusive video to like and comment on and create a video using the song to get a Coldplay profile box.
TikTok says Coldplay fans can also “take their engagement to another planet” by tagging their new music video with the “#MoonMusic” hashtag, for a chance to be featured in the official Fan Spotlight carousel .
Coldplay has 6.4 million Followers on TikTok. The platform noted that the band’s hit song sparked a number of trends, including yellow (3.3 million video creations) Users create “nostalgic and visually appealing montages that capture dreamy and sentimental atmospheres.”
Another trend is driven by Life (2 million video creations), fans “demonstrate personal transformation” and sky full of stars (1.7 million video creations), TikTok users “get creative with night sky scenes that convey wonder and appreciation for the universe,” according to TikTok.
