I know two things are true: Tom Cruise Be our last action hero, Tom Cruise is our last movie star. He proved this again Mission Impossible – Final Estimation(hopefully not) the series finale is basically two and a half hours of pure adrenaline.
The film is basically a massive, action-packed work that flows seamlessly into the next one and into the next one. But, even with all the chaos and wonder, it won’t fall on the character. The team we’ve been following over the years – Ethan Hunt (Cruise), Benji (Simon Peg)Luther (Ving Rhames), all here, their dynamics are still fresh and interesting.
The film begins with a brief review of the previous film and cleverly brings flashbacks to long-standing characters. Parade, sit on your laptop and watch the surveillance camera, somehow nervous. Honestly, no one is more powerful than Tom Cruise to look at laptops.
Soon after, we returned with Luther and Benji, who was his calm technical genius when Benji was doing well in the backstage. Then, boom, we are running. And run. and flying. and submerged under water. It’s nonstop, great.
In this, the gang now includes grace (Hayley Atwell) and Paris (Pom ClementieffThe person we were introduced to in the previous movie) is chasing a rogue AI called “entities” that can destroy… basically everything. Gabriel (Morales paper) also returned from previous movies, he was still the thorn around them and tried to use the program for his own use. And, as usual, the double crosses have double crosses.
How many times has Cruise saved the world now? I’m sure this time the number exceeded the number I expected. There was an outstanding sequence, he hung on a plane in the air, making me wonder how that guy did it. At the same time, I tried hard to get off the sofa. That guy is a machine.
That is, not everything is hit. There is an undersea sequence that feels like it’s welcome. Maybe it’s just that I’m impatient, but I’m ready to move on before the scene is over.
Atwell is back, perfect for the core team. She held her next to Cruise, and that said something. Klementieff, though she didn’t have much to do this time – except asking questions that we’re all thinking about, usually in French, only Benji seems to be able to translate.
Luther’s calmness, commanding presence always contrasts with Benji’s crazy, knowledgeable anger. Angela Bassett appears again as president. After seeing her, I hope she is ours Actual President.
So, this is indeed Mission: Impossible series? I hope not. Currently, we need heroes, even fictional heroes, and parades seem to be our only hope.
*I was thinking until the new Superman and Fantastic Four movies came out.
