As father of two young girls Lilo & Stitch It has been the middle streaming platform in our home for many years. Well, mostly stitches, because as my daughter said, “He’s cute.” They watched the original movies and TV series repeatedly and I bet we had at least twelve stitches scattered around the house. I’ve been asked when I can see it since they saw the first trailer for this new live version.
The film starts with stitches (also known as Experiment 626), and is completely completely crazy from his planet. After crashing on Earth, we meet six-year-old Lilo Mary Keana. She was late for the hula hoop recital because she stopped to feed the hungry turtle. After discovering Steach’s spacecraft crashed to Earth, she thought it was a shooting star and wished a true friend.
Enter Stitch and now run from Alien Chaser Jumba (Zach Galifianakis) and Pleakley (Billy Magnuson), falling into Lilo’s world, the two become inseparable.
Sew, man. The stitches are crazy. After Lilo took him home, the next thirty minutes were pure chaos. He collapses in the wedding, steals the cake, sets Lua, and somehow gets Lilo’s sister Nani (Sydney Agugon), fired from every job she managed to get. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp and written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike van Waes, these parts are fun, but after a while I was ready to let the story begin. Fortunately, things started to move once Stitch realized he needed to show or risk being sent back to the animal shelter where he was found. That’s when we encounter CIA agent Cobra bubbles (Courtney B. Vance), who came to the island to investigate the crash and stitches.
There must be some laughing moments here. Kealoha is perfect as Lilo’s pitch. Her reaction to the stitches put my girl in the stitches (pun). Chris Sanders, He wrote and directed the original animated film with Dean DeBlois, and back to voice sewing, he was as funny as ever. It’s hard to charm the character with just the gount and gib feet, but he pulls it apart in some way. Stitches and alien visuals are top notch and seamless.
As for the auxiliary lineup, the tycoon is as solid as Pleakley. Galifianakis is usually a sought-after person and feels like calling it. Maybe it’s just the temptation of an extended holiday in Hawaii.
But hey, I’m not the target audience, so let’s look at what my daughters think:
Ella (8): “I love it so much! Schi is really fun. I give it ten out of ten!”
Sadie (6): “They were scared when they fought at the end, but I really liked it.
