Tony Budingham is working hard to keep Corinium Television as a production company in the Cotswolds. To do this, he poached Irish talk show host Declan O’Hara from Aunt Bibb.
Lady Gosling tells Badingham that he needs to appoint a lord or two to strengthen his board. He was told to pursue the aristocrat Rupert Campbell Black. The notorious ladies’ man and rumored lover extraordinaire. Campbell-Blake declined.
Declan’s talk show took off and Campbell-Black continued to make a name for himself on the show.
Mrs. Gilly Cooper

As of 1982, there were three television channels in the country. Channel 4 began broadcasting in 1982 as a supplement to ITV. Cooper’s choice of this setting for her novel is certainly appropriate.
