David Harbor Hoping to get fans hyped for Marvel’s upcoming movie Thunder*. Just in front of it is Captain America: Brave New Worldwe’ve heard it so many times, and just three months after its release, we finally get to see where Thunderbolt’s story is going and find out why there’s an asterisk at the end of the title.
Harbor stars as Alexei Shostakov, aka the Red Guardian, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and participated in DC’s biocommando Agency this week.
At the event, CinemaBlend asked the actor, who voices the character Eric Frankenstein in the series, how storytellers in the superhero genre keep things fresh. Speaking about Marvel, Harbor said this:
“To some extent, Marvel is excited about its expansion. And, I think they’re making some corrections about the Disney+ thing getting too big.
“I’m so excited for you guys to see Thunderbolts*. Because, I’m so impressed with the direction they’re taking. It’s amazing. It’s a real movie. I mean, whether you like it or not, who knows What? But… I saw a clip of it and it was pretty impressive.
So it sounds like Thunder* This is a new movie genre for Marvel fans, and Harbor is impressed! I know he can’t say much, but I’m already excited about the movie and this just continues the hype for me.
Harbor went on to talk about the film and the compelling relationships in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
“That’s what the movie allows for. They do the good things that Marvel does well. But they also… they’re focusing on chemistry. I think there’s something special about this group.
“To me, it feels like when you watch Scarlett Johansson and chris evans. When you look at these chemical reactions in people, you see that — it’s not that there’s a romantic relationship, but the chemistry between humans is interconnected. I think that’s what we need in these movies.
“Because we wanted to make sure. When you see what Downey does with this vulnerability and humanity, we want there to be an emotional appeal. You have all this fun and then you have – in At the center of it—a real person—I think it’s just electric.
It all hinges on solid storytelling, and it sounds like the movie might have pulled off a great story and engaging character development. Thunder* Released on May 2, 2025.
