Peacock is wasting no time: Day of the Jackal has been renewed for a second season just eight days after it premiered.
This assassin thriller stars Eddie Redman as The Jackal, a killer who travels the world performing high-stakes missions while deftly evading capture. Lashana Lynch (“No Time to Die”) stars as Bianca, a ruthless British intelligence officer tasked with taking down the Jackal. According to the show’s official synopsis, their cat-and-mouse chase leaves chaos in its wake as she tracks him across Europe. The cast also includes Úrsula Corbero (“Money Heist”) as the Jackal’s wife Nuria, as well as Charles Dance and Richard Dormer (“Game of Thrones”) and Khalid Abdullah (“The Crown”). The series is based on Frederic Forsyth’s classic novel and is being adapted by Top Boy’s Ronan Bennett, who also serves as executive producer.
The first five episodes of “Day of the Jackal” premiered on Peacock last Thursday, with the sixth episode set to air this week. The show has already received critical acclaim and ranked among the top 5 Peacock streaming originals during its opening weekend. It has also been an international success thanks to a co-production with Sky, performing strongly in markets including the UK, Australia and Ireland.
