Much of Discovery’s second season has been spent delving into characters other than Gabi and Jazz.
We’ve seen a lot of this as this season has mostly focused on Lacey’s present and flashbacks.
However, one character who we continue to get unexpected insights into is Detective Mark Trent.
If you’ve been following our Discovery coverage, you know how much we’re loving this season and how passionate we are about the storyline.
We’re also excited to share an exclusive sneak peek of Found Season 2, Episode 5.
Our exclusive clip features Brett Dalton’s Trent in a brand new setting that piqued our interest.
So far, we’ve seen that Trent is one of the most vocal people about Gabi’s inappropriate behavior in taking Jazz hostage.
This seriously affected his view of her.
He’s obviously having a hard time balancing his personal feelings, and then he’s heartbroken to learn that a woman he cares about, with whom he’s working on missing persons cases in a professional capacity, has done something that is morally questionable to him. broken.
In many ways, the issue comes to a head in Discovery Season 2 Episode 4, with Trent showing a vested interest in a case involving a missing couple that includes a powerful man A man and his wife are a survivor of domestic violence.
We see how passionate Trent is about the case, and how young Jay shoehorns himself into the M&A job despite his reluctance to cooperate with the police.
Ultimately, we learned that Trent was passionate about this specific case because of his personal experience with the subject.
His sister is in an abusive relationship, and Trent spends some time trying to get her out of it, by almost any means necessary; Trent’s dark confessions that he’s been on a moral turmoil since we met him It has always been so righteous.
Now, we’ll learn more about Trent as season two continues to explore his personal and family life.
We already know that Trent seemingly followed in his father’s footsteps and became a police officer, and now, we’re going to get to see the older Trent up close.
If we get a sneak peek, Trent’s relationship with his father is fraught.
Episode 5 of Discovery Season 2, titled “Missing Presumed Dead,” introduces another fascinating merger case.
In this case, we learn that Margaret took it upon herself to reopen a cold case from seven years ago involving a missing teenage girl.
The sudden appearance of a mysterious, unknown four-year-old prompts Margaret to reinvestigate the cold case.
The young boy may well be connected to a teenager who disappeared years ago.
It’s certainly an interesting premise to start the installment and the case, and one has to imagine that after seven years of not solving the problem, M&A will bring the heat in an effort to do what law enforcement couldn’t do nearly a decade ago.
With the emergence of Trent’s father, we believe that even if he was not directly involved in the case, he was at least familiar with who the lead detective was at the time.
From our clip, Trent wants to talk to his father about Hank Edwards, the police officer who led the investigation of the missing teenagers, because Trent’s father used to be the head of the police force.
That means some alcoholism led to poor police work, which will put the law in a bad light as the cold case triggers new scrutiny.
In our clip, we get a real look at the relationship between Mark and James Trent.
James seemed to be a charismatic big shot who made a lasting impression on others and was someone the other officers looked up to and respected.
He also comes across as old-school, as he doesn’t seem to understand why the public is now more critical of law enforcement.
The relationship between father and son was tense.
Mark Trent may have struggled to live up to his father’s expectations and was used to criticism or passive-aggressive observations from his father.
But if the personal tension between them wasn’t concerning enough, James also mentioned Gabi, which clearly annoyed Mark.
