Dolly Parton’s brother David Wilburn Parton dies at 82
Stella Parton, the 78-year-old country music icon’s sister, shared the news on social media on Friday (November 15). The cause of death has not been disclosed.
“My brother David passed away peacefully this morning,” Stella wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “It’s never easy to say goodbye to a loved one, but he has been given angel wings and is now at peace.”
Stella added in a Facebook post on Saturday that “losing a loved one is never easy,” noting that David died “in the early hours of the morning.”
Stella wrote on Threads: “My brother David left us this morning. He finally had angel wings. Rest in peace, dear soul. Love you forever.
As of press time, Dolly Parton has not publicly commented on her brother’s death.
An obituary on the Farrar Funeral Home website confirmed that David Parton (David W. Parton) died on November 15 at his home in White Pine, Tennessee. his parents, Robert Lee and Ivy Lee Owens Patton; and his brothers, Larry, Floyd and Randy Patton. David retired from his position as director of bridge construction for Simpson Construction Company.
David is one of Dolly’s 11 siblings. The Parton family has faced other recent losses, including Randy’s death from cancer in 2021 at age 67.
When Randy passed away, Dolly shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, saying, “My brother Randy lost his battle with cancer. My family and I are grieving his passing, but we know He is in a better place than we are now. We are a family of faith and we believe he is safe with God and have family members who have welcomed him with joy and open arms.
