Downtown Music Publishing has reached a global music publishing agreement with PDU, the record label and publishing company owned by Italian icon singer Mina.
Under the new agreement, DMP will provide global publishing management and synchronization services for Mina’s catalog.
Downtown Music Publishing noted this week that Minaj has sold more than 150 million records worldwide and “had an indelible and profound impact on culture.”
“Her songs have been the soundtrack of Italian life for generations and she remains the only artist to have topped the Italian charts for seven consecutive decades,” the company added.
Under the new agreement, Downtown Music Publishing will represent Mina’s extensive catalog, which includes more than 80 LPs and 1,395 songs, through Mina’s recording and publishing company, PDU.
The songs are sung in a variety of languages and dialects, including Italian, English, Spanish, Neapolitan, French, German, Portuguese, Latin, Japanese and Turkish.
The catalog of PDUs includes more than 400 Songs since 1980, Downtown Music Publishing also represents Mina’s upcoming album, due out in November 2024.
Mina is considered the most successful female performer in Italian pop music with her 1959 classic Tintarela, the moon god, Her 1998 album, Mina Celentanowhich remains the best-selling album in Italian history.
