2023 production dream scene There is no doubt that this is a black comedy. But this is inherently weird and not that wonderful. The sense of strangeness it exudes takes over the comedic elements. Nicolas Cage gives us another strangely nuanced character with confidence issues.

    story

Paul Matthews, a professor with identity issues starts appearing in people’s dreams. He found it funny at first. Paul then became obsessed with temporary, unearned celebrity. As the phenomenon spirals out of control, he loses his grip on the reality of his existence.

Paul’s journey takes him through the ups and downs of overnight fame. Somewhat surprisingly, his appearance in the dream world mirrors his real-life existence. It doesn’t matter what professors feel and do in the real world. The dream state in which he exists is an extension of his actual weak personality.

    main cast

    Nicolas Cage plays Paul Matthews.

Lily Bird is Sophie Matthews. Paul’s daughter.

Julianne Nicholson plays Janet. Paul’s wife.

Jessica Clement plays Hannah. Paul’s other daughter.

Tim Meadows plays Brett. Paul’s boss.

Dylan Baker plays Richard. Paul’s colleague.

    smaller role

Michael Cera plays Trent. PR person.

Kate Berlant is Mary. Trent’s colleague.

Dylan Gelula is another of Molly Trenz’s colleagues. Her erotic dreams about Paul begin to set him up for failure.

    Surrealism Walter Mitty

Kristoffer Borgli gives us a dream world of Walter Mitty. This surreal look at fame and its price is interesting. Despite Paul’s despair and anxiety about his new role as a dream invader, the film is both funny and strange.

Molly’s erotic dream was off balance. In the dream, Paul is the aggressor. As they try to reenact the fantasy, real life awkwardly enters the frame.

After a failed sexual tryst, Paul’s dreams become violent and disturbing. His students avoided any contact with professors.

The whole experience was like Salvador Dalí and Sigmund Freud making a movie.

    judgment

dream scene It’s a strange duck. Cage gives us a disturbing and unsettling performance. Grandiose and seemingly narcissistic. He begins to lash out in the dream world. His presence becomes nightmarish in the students’ dreamlike visions. Paul is a small man as the night intruder. A man who craves fame and recognition. When this happens, his life becomes unbearable. The movie received a high score of 3.5 stars. Black comedy aside, this movie is strange and unusual.

It can be played on Max.
