Dua Lipa performed a one-off show at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Thursday night (October 17).
The concert, recorded for an upcoming television special and featuring a 53-piece orchestra, brings new colors to her recent album, radical optimismUpon its release in May, it debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Elton John, who collaborated with Dua on the 2021 hit “Cold Heart,” also joined the singer during the encore to perform the song live. See clips from the performance below.
Lipa, who took the stage in a red Jean Paul Gaultier dress, said the show was “different from any show I’ve done before.” Her seven band members are joined by 14 choir members and The Heritage Orchestra, conducted by Ben Foster. More than 500 people took part in transforming the venue into a full concert experience.
The historic concert hall, opened in 1871, usually hosts classical and popular concerts. Recent performers include Florence + The Machine and Sam Smith, both of whom also use orchestral twists to enhance their sounds.
The show was Lipa’s first in the UK since her critically acclaimed performance at Glastonbury Festival in early June this year.
