When it comes to the characters in Orphan Black: Echoes , you can’t keep a copy.
The series does a great job of separating itself from its parent series. So far I’ve been reluctant to compare the two too much.
However, Orphan Black: Echoes deserves praise for how different it is from the original Orphan Black .
Sure, the budget is bigger, but there’s so much more to a show than money.
While Orphan Black: Echoes doesn’t have as much camp as the original, it has a stronger, cleaner story.
By focusing on printouts of multiple older versions, the series adds a different depth to the idea of multiple copies of a single individual.
‘Orphan Black: Echoes’ brings new depth and complexity to its characters
The mystery of who Lucy is and where she comes from is a powerful premise for this follow-up to the cult classic.
Rather than easing audiences into the concept of a print version, Orphan Black: Echoes takes a direct route.
This is very clever as it makes it easier for the audience to focus on the complexities of Lucy, Jules and Eleanor.
By having three clones from different points in the original’s life, viewers can make more personal connections between similarities and differences.
This also means that if one of the “printing team” ends up dying, the consequences will be more serious.
I don’t want anyone on Lucy’s (Krysten Ritter) team to get cooked, but it would make for an exciting plot in the future. Especially if there is an option to print again.
The fact that Kira is the sole cause of this new disastrous technology is insane.
It’s still hard for me to understand after everything her mother went through, but the thought of losing the love of her life was a huge motivator.
Sad people are known to do some truly crazy things.
Orphan Black: Echoes makes huge strides in connecting with the original series
Now that Kira has seen the error of her ways, what does that mean for the series?
On the one hand, they need to stop Daros, but on the other hand, can Orphan Black: Echoes keep things interesting without any new printouts?
Everyone on the creative team is clearly doing their best to keep the story fresh.
They deserve credit for bringing in familiar faces from the original Orphan Black.
There’s no doubt that once fans of the cult classic finally get over it and give Orphan Black: Echoes a try, they’ll be grateful to the writers for tying the two together.
Orphan Black: Echoes instilled fans with nostalgia between Uncle Felix and Aunt Delphine.
Seeing these original characters years later in this new series makes it feel like Orphan Black has grown up and evolved into what the show was meant to be.
That’s not to say the original wasn’t perfect. In a way, Orphan Black: Echoes is a tribute to everything the original story and characters accomplished.
It’s hard to believe that the little girl in Orphan Black Season 1 grew up to become a brilliant scientist, cloning a distraught Lucy.
Krysten Ritter continues to be beacon of talent on AMC series
Lucy doesn’t seem to be taking a break anytime soon, either.
Does anyone else feel like they’re being waterboarded over Craig’s possible death?
At first, I thought, “Oh, good. Craig is fine. Lucy isn’t going to be destroyed.”
Then you all know he was bleeding the whole episode. But he didn’t notice because he thought he peed on himself.
We have to give it to Krysten Ritter because she really puts her heart into the performance. You can’t tell me she didn’t actually cry in front of Craig.
I really thought he was going to die, but I’m glad he didn’t because that would have been lazy writing for AMC. And mean.
Thank God, Jack, because there’s no way Craig’s stubbornness is going to make it through the night.
Sadly, this is bad news/good news. Jack seems to be getting tired of Lucy, and I can’t blame him.
Lucy never intended to bring so much chaos into Jack and Charlie’s lives, but it has.
There’s no turning back and everything has come to a head, possibly forcing Lucy to make some tough decisions.
Jack, however, had a simpler idea. He wanted to make sure Charlie was safe.
It’s a corpse on a corpse with a printout team looking for the possibility of more clones
I can’t believe they kept Charlie out for so many episodes just to bring her back to be kidnapped.
They gently “frozen” her.
For those who don’t know, that’s when the female character is attacked in some way to motivate the male character.
That being said, kidnapping a child is exactly what a jerk like Tom would do.
Once I thought there might be a decent guy under that basic brother, that’s when it happened.
What kind of person likes Celine Dion and snatches children in their free time?
In my previous episode review, I said that Craig’s death would motivate Lucy.
I was obviously thinking too small, as this situation might have brought out Lucy’s “mama bear” side.
So while Lucy and Jack deal with Daros’ henchmen, Eleanor (Rhea Kierstedt) and Kira can figure out what Paul Daros is up to.
Jules (Amanda Fix) can continue to babysit Xander’s unhinged ass and help him cope with his existential crisis.
At least we now have a better idea of Paul’s plan. I said it was questionable whether money was involved in his plans. He is already a billionaire.
We know that twelve body scans have been pre-selected for printing.
Now, we need to find out who these people are and why they are important.
If the show is renewed for another season, it may revolve around finding these prints.
It was great to meet Kira’s (Keeley Hawes) mother Sarah.
It’s a tall order, however, because whoever plays the elderly leader of the Clone Club will have to face scrutiny from fans of the original.
We’ve finished the last episode. Everything came to a head.
I’m ready for every possibility.
Orphan Black: Echoes is a fantastic series.
As a spin-off, the creators crafted the perfect story for a new audience while still trying to cater to OG fans.
In other words, if anything happens to Charlie, I will definitely lose!
What do you think of Paul’s body scan project?
What do you think Lucy will do once they stop Daros?
