Sony Music Publishing Latin has renewed its global publishing deal with Latin music superstar Edgar Barrera.
The agreement with Barrera, a multi-time Latin Grammy and GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter, producer, recording engineer and musician, continues the company’s long-standing relationship with him that began in 2014.
The news coincides with Barrera’s latest achievement of becoming a top nominee at the 2024 Latin Grammy Awards for the second year in a row, with a total of nine nominations in categories including Songwriter of the Year and Producer of the Year.

Called “one of today’s most prolific hit songwriters” by SMP, Edgar Barrera has written for Maluma, Camila Cabello, Becky G, Ariana Grande, Yandel, Marc Anthony, Shakira, Camilo, Songs have been written by artists such as Karol G, Peso Pluma, Christian Nodal, Frontera Group, Selena Gomez and Manuel Turizo, among others.

Edgar Barrera made history when he was nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the 2024 Grammy Awards, becoming the only Spanish-speaking artist in the general category at this year’s awards. He has also received Grammy Awards for his work, including Best Music Album (Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito).
