The drama is definitely heating up in Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 2.
While borrowing from multiple themes, this episode secretly weaves a rounded plot case. I’m not sure why this episode is titled “The Wrong Stuff,” though.
The title is rather vague for an episode of Elsbeth’s. Given the twists and turns, I would have titled this episode either “Rising in Fire” or “Out of the Fire and Into Space.”
However, what this episode lacks in creative title, it makes up for in being incredibly entertaining. Elsbeth continues to deliver content that exceeds audience expectations.
Elsbeth meets an old colleague, which surprises her even more than usual
The episode starts off by diving into all the fun parts. We’ll soon have access to wealthy space enthusiasts. Now, we have to talk about Carter.
We finally know who was in the mysterious SUV at the end of the first episode of Elsbeth Season 2.
The character first appeared in The Good Wife Season 5 Episode 3.
Christian Borle, who plays Carter Schmidt, has been in the entertainment industry for nearly three decades. He is known for his roles in Wicked, Hustlers, and Elementary.
Although he only appeared briefly in the episode, he left a lasting impact on Elsbeth and the audience. Clearly, Elsbeth was about to have a conflict of interest.
While details of her legally binding case have yet to be released, Elsbeth’s reaction tells us she’s more nervous than a roomful of long-tailed cats in rocking chairs.
Whatever the situation, it’s not going to be nearly as interesting as what happened in this episode.
If there’s one thing space doesn’t need, it’s billionaire enthusiasts
What do you get when you put a bunch of billionaires together in a building for two weeks? You lack faith in humanity, that’s all.
While I’m sure the writers of “Elsbeth” exaggerated the characters, you have to wonder where their inspiration came from. I have no doubt that people like these characters exist and should not go to space.
First of all, I agree with Kaya. I don’t want to go anywhere without free oxygen. I never thought about going into space in my life.
Also, like Kaya, I know billionaires will do what they want, but is space really a hobby that can satisfy people’s desires?
Regardless, Rob Riggle (Curb Your Enthusiasm) does what Rob does best. He is a character actor who knows his strengths and plays to them. As always, he’s an obnoxious guy who laughs at his own jokes.
Although it’s possible that another character could be the killer, as Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 2 spoilers suggest, we always knew it was Rob Riegel.
I’m not mad about it either, because the only thing the other suspect wants is Elsbeth.
Where there is smoke there is fire, and where there is Elsbeth there is fire Martial Jack
OMG that fireman felt his waist on fire for Elsbeth. I daresay that Elsbeth may have met someone who knew less about boundaries than she did.
The sexual chemistry between Elsbeth and John Behrman’s (“The Gilded Age”) fire captain Jack Turin is enough to raise hell. He literally told me I needed to be hosed down.
I really enjoyed this side arc from Elsbeth. The confusion on her face made me scream every time Jack made a move. You have to love a man who knows what he wants.
Ostensibly, he wants Elsbeth (Kelly Preston) to climb up on him like a fire truck ladder. Okay, I think I’ve made enough puns involving fire and firefighters.
Hopefully this means Behrman will stick around for a while. Hopefully he’s not allergic to dogs because I don’t want to have to choose between Jack and Gonzo.
You already know who will win.
Elsbeth and team take two steps forward
Although Lieutenant Steve Connor is nowhere to be seen, his presence is felt in The Wrong Stuff. Specifically, Kaya is back on the trail with detectives.
It’s nice to see the three solving crimes together again, but it’s a little frustrating to see Kaya in a police uniform. She came this far only to take two steps back.
Who knew Captain Wagner (Wendell Pierce) was a space junkie? I wouldn’t consider him a NASA enthusiast. Just when you think the guy is going to beat the bush, he always beats the bush.
One thing that made my ears prick up was the mention of someone’s son again. As in the first season, the protagonist mentions her son Teddy.
I was picking a fight with Elsbeth’s son. We haven’t seen this character yet, but he’s mentioned in almost every episode.
What was her son thinking? Can you imagine how much fun Elsbeth would have at a drag brunch? You know Elsbeth would thrive on a mother-son gay cruise.
Who knows? Perhaps now that a friend from Elsbeth’s past is popping up, her son will venture to New York.
The real question, however, is what happened to the divorce that Elsbeth is now legally involved in? Will this get her out of the NYPD?
Like High Potential, Elsbeth is a series that revolves around its protagonist and his talents. In both shows, the main character might move to another city, or work in a hospital instead of a police station, and it’s more or less the same show.
That said, I hope the setting doesn’t change, as New York seems to have the most heinous characters involved in the most brutal murders.
All of these factors are part of what makes Elsbeth such an incredible show. As long as that never changes, you can trust me to soak up every second of this amazing series.
Do you think Elsbeth will go after the fire chief?
If you’re familiar with Carter from The Good Wife, do you know the details of the case?
