Cartoon Network and Max’s new animated Nigerian superhero series releases first clip, Want to know. The clip was released during the show’s panel at New York Comic Con this weekend. Want to know Will premiere on Cartoon Network and Max in Spring 2025.
The trailer begins with a voiceover: “Our ancestors prophesied that in times of great strife, a Chosen One would rise up to restore harmony to the people and creatures of the Yoruba land.”
The film then shifts to a lush, vibrant landscape where protagonists Iyanu and Biyi find themselves in a heart-stopping moment of danger, the tranquility shattered by the thunderous charge of a wild rhino, a powerful symbol of the raw power of nature.
“Iyanu then displayed her ancestral wisdom with astonishing courage and intuition, halting the Rhino’s advance and revealing her true nature as the Chosen One.
The groundbreaking series is based on the popular graphic novel series from Dark Horse Comics/YouNeek Studios Miracle: Son of Miracle Created by award-winning Nigerian creators and filmmakers Roy Okupe. It is produced by Lion Forge Entertainment and supported by Cartoon Network and Max.
Want to know is a superhero story set in the magical kingdom of Yorubaland, drawing on Nigerian culture, music and mythology. This animated series, heavily inspired by the Yoruba people, tells the story of Iyanu, an orphaned teenage girl who spends her days studying history and ancient art but longs for a normal life.
One day, while dealing with danger, she unknowingly triggers her own magical powers, the likes of which have not been seen since the Age of Miracles. Armed with her newfound superpowers, Ianu joins forces with two other teenagers, Bee and Toye, and embarks on an extraordinary journey to uncover the evil truth lurking in her hometown.
Throughout the adventure, she will uncover the truth about her past, her parents, and her ultimate destiny to save the world.
The all-Nigerian dubbing cast is composed of give up johnson As Iyanu and Okay Jude Playing Biyi, Yanu’s carefree adventurer friend; Samuel Kugbiyi as Troy, Wonder’s bookworm companion; Adesua Etomi-Wellington as a leader; flower chukujiku Plays Kanfo, Toye’s father; Stella Damasus as rent; Shafi Bello Play Amy – a mother; and personal power As Elder Arapani.
Brandon Easton (“Transformers: War for Cybertron: Siege”, Marvel’s Agent Carter), serves as showrunner, with Roye Okupe serving as executive producer, writer, and director of multiple episodes.
