Some movies are just fun to watch. take me to the moon (2024), which tells the story of selling the space race to the American people in the early 1960s, is one such film. Great cast, great story and great dynamics, take me to the moon Easily worthy of its 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
This movie is essentially a love story. Despite its “space age” setting, this is still an old-fashioned love story. In fact, it must be, because the context is almost unbelievable half a century ago. *At least 57 years old.
Is there any truth to the love story between Cape Canaveral missiles? Of course, it’s about the space race that started in 1957 when the Russians first went into space. The love story itself is also based on fact.
As presented in Hollywood.

Ray Romano plays Henry Smalls.
*A tribute to Jim Rush, who plays the erratic, moody director Lance Vespertin. He killed it here.
Number of cameos
Gene Jones is Senator Hope.
Colin Jost is Senator Cook.
behind the camera
Directed by Greg Berlanti take me to the moon A light touch. He blends comedy with the crazy pathos associated with the NASA competition. Berlanti also tones down the romance almost imperceptibly.
Daniel Pemberton gives us a score that takes us (at least me) back to the 1960s. These songs really take me back to where I was when I was 11 years old.
Darius Wolski; as a cinematographer, he presents every frame with care. Giving us a touch of reality that almost hurts because of its familiarity with the times. Working with production designer Shane Valentino was a perfect combination of filming expertise.
Rose Gilroy has written a magic-themed play. The magic of blooming love and pre-space shuttle space travel. At that time, humanity was breaking free from the Earth, which was a little unbelievable.
it works
Embracing the age-old conspiracy theory that the moon landing was faked is perfect for this story. The choice of Johnson and Tatum as the protagonists was pure genius. The two actors work so well together that we as actors feel their authenticity, and they make this oil-and-water couple perfect.
The side project of “Fake Landing” feeds into the overall arc of the star-crossed lovers. Everything works here; Rotten Tomatoes critics be damned.
judgment
take me to the moon It is a 5-star happy entertainment. For the love of romance, space and country, it sets all the rockets on fire. Tatum and Johnson create sparks as the unlikely couple, while Harrison never quite shines as in the important “Also Run.” The show is currently streaming on Apple TV+.
