French film companies Rectangle Productions and Goodfellas announced the completion of their merger on Friday.
Rectangle, the production company behind the San Sebastian opener Emmanuel 2021 Venice Film Festival Winners what happenedand Vincent Maraval’s “Fellas,” responsible for international sales of films including Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning film boy and heronand Francis Ford Coppola’s Megacitythe merger will be completed on November 4, 2024. The companies said the merger “is being undertaken for the benefit of all stakeholders” and marks “an important milestone for these long-term partners”.
Rectangle Productions, led by Alice Girard and Edouard Weil, said it will retain its brand, creative independence, affiliated talent and all ongoing projects. In a statement, the company said it was committed to continuing to “produce ambitious films and TV series with their consistent talent and partners.”
For Goodfellas, the merger provides a significant boost to the company’s film and television production business and provides a new source of content for its international sales operations.
Rectangle was co-founded by Weil in 2003 and co-producer Alice Girard joined in 2012.
