Fremantle and its Singaporean production company Beach House Pictures told the Asian Television Forum and Market on Thursday that they are working with Vietnam’s Anh Teu Studio on the adaptation of stupid luck (red numbers)a critically acclaimed 1936 satirical novel by Vietnamese author Vu Trong Phung.
Film producer Phan Gia Nhat LinhWu Huazhen, yesterday’s girl, Sweet 20) will write and direct the adaptation, with Lê Thanh Phong, Yuno Choi and Vũ Quỳnh Hà signed on to produce. Popular Vietnamese singer Mono will play the story’s unforgettable protagonist, red-haired Xuan.
The production company’s official story summary for the project reads: “stupid luck The story takes place in Vietnam in the 1930s, a period marked by significant social changes as the country experienced the final years of French colonial rule, the rise of Vietnamese nationalist and reformist movements, and the growing influence of global consumer culture . The film tells the incredible and hilarious adventures of Hong Fa Xuan, an unscrupulous wanderer who rose from poverty to the top of society and was revered as a poster boy for China’s Europeanization movement.

stupid luck The film is a Vietnam, South Korea and Singapore co-production, produced by Anh Teu Studio and Sidus and Teu Entertainment (SATE) in collaboration with Beach House Pictures.
Producers include Sidus and Yuno Choi of Teu Entertainment, Le Thanh Phong of A Viet Media, Vu Quynh Ha of CJ HK Entertainment and Phan Gia Nhat Linh of Anh Teu Studio. Executive producers include Conor Zorn, Donovan Chan and Jocelyn Little for Beach House Pictures; Christian Vesper and Simon Judd for Fremantle and Sidhus Handae Rhee of Sidus. The film will be distributed in Vietnam by CJ CGV.
