The second round of performers for the 2024 MAMA Awards has been announced, including the return of a K-pop superstar.
Entertainment company CJ ENM announced on Monday (October 21) that G-DRAGON will take the stage at the Japan Awards Ceremony on November 23, marking his ninth anniversary since performing with the other BIGBANG members in 2015.
In addition, BOYNEXTDOOR and PLAVE will perform on November 22, and G)I-DLE and BIBI will take the stage on November 23.
The three-day event honoring K-pop’s brightest stars will kick off for the first time on November 21 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, where KATSEYE, ILLIT, RIIZE, JY Park and TWS were previously announced The theater holds a performance. The awards ceremony will be held on November 22-23 at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. Previously announced performers ENHYPEN, TOMORROW The next day, LEE Young Ji and MEOVV took the stage.
This year’s MAMA Awards presented by Visa will be themed “Big Blur: What is Real?” reflecting the increasing blurring of boundaries between industries, cultures, music genres and technology. In line with the theme, the ceremony will “present a surreal yet authentic experience through the fusion of art and technology, and showcase visually captivating performances,” according to a press release.
See the full list of 2024 MAMA Awards nominees here. The eligibility period runs from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024, and nominees are determined based on an assessment of global music data and an evaluation by a panel of experts.
The next ticket sales for the Japanese event will be from October 22nd to October 26th through Qoo10.jp, while tickets for the US event will also go on sale through Ticketmaster starting at 4pm PST on October 22nd.
