If you’re one of the many Suits fans who have been indifferent to the idea of a spinoff, today’s casting news might finally pique your interest.
Gabriel Macht will reprise his role as Harvey Specter in NBC’s upcoming drama “Suits: Los Angeles,” Deadline reports.
Macht reportedly plans to film three episodes of the show, while the show Can Leading to a more permanent arrangement, there is currently no indication that he will become a series regular.
In fact, today’s news has not yet been confirmed by NBC.
But Macht posted a video on Instagram that leaves no doubt about his upcoming career plans.
The clip shows him wearing (pun intended) outfits that fans will definitely associate with his beloved character (including a shirt emblazoned with the initials “HS”).
“When an old friend needs help… it’s time to take care of things and get the ‘stuff’ done,” Macht wrote in the post.
“The Bat-Signal actually works!!” Suits lead Stephen Amell commented, seemingly further confirming Macht’s return.
Today’s news isn’t a complete shock, as Adams has previously stated that he would be willing to reprise his role.
“I’ve been providing a service,” he recently told TV Line, adding:
“I love [Suits/Suits L.A. creator] Aaron Korsh and I loved this world; it changed my entire life.
So, does Macht’s return mean other original cast members might return to the show that made them famous?
Is there any chance Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, will play Rachel Zane again?
That remains to be seen.
It seems unlikely that Meghan is planning a return to acting, but the news that Suits: LA will feature Ghost makes it more likely that Patrick J. Adams will return to Mike Ross’ impeccably tailored costumes.
The original Suits has enjoyed an unexpected resurgence in popularity in recent years, becoming one of Netflix’s most-watched series.
So when NBC first announced the spinoff, excitement was overwhelming. But so far, casting news about Suits: LA has failed to boost expectations.
Today’s informal announcement may change that.
