If there’s one thing we love about Grey’s Anatomy, it’s their commitment to a point.
If the hype for this week’s episode is to be believed, we’re in for another plane disaster and Another complicated pregnancy storyline.
We’ll reveal this and more in Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 5 spoilers.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 21 Episode 5 Spoilers: LGBTQ+ Stories
First, let’s take a moment to celebrate: Amelia and Beltran are both back for new episodes!
Fingers crossed we get some great scenes between the two of them.
I had been begging for a good, slow-burn weird relationship, and the passion between Amelia and the new podiatric surgeon was like a live wire, begging to be touched.
Other LGBTQ+ relationships are also made (or broken) on the show.
Levi and James finally connected last week (wink, wink) and it’s looking promising.
At least, that was until Levi discovered a wedding album in James’ apartment.
Mika and Jules have shared steamy scenes on numerous occasions, but their relationship is currently closed.
That didn’t stop Jules from spending as much time as possible with Micah (and her sister Chloe) while Chloe went through cancer treatments.
It’s clear that Jules and Mika love each other but can’t do anything about it, which is one of the most heartbreaking tropes ever created.
Obviously, I don’t have high hopes for that ship, or for that matter the James/Levi ship.
Midori Francis and Jake Borelli are both leaving the show this season, so the ship is bound to sink.
I’ll be sad to see them go, but I’ll focus on Amelia and Beltran and hope they don’t let me down.
Potential flight disaster
The biggest storyline right now seems to be a potential helicopter crash with Levy and Lucas on board.
Some fans are speculating online that this could be the event that marks Jack Borelli’s exit from the show.
Of course, it’s certainly possible they killed him in a helicopter accident.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
But if that was the plan, it begs the question: why did they bother letting Levi discover James’ wedding photos.
I don’t think we’ll see any big character deaths this week, but I could be wrong.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 21 Episode 5 Spoilers: Latest Developments for Jo
Last week, on Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 4, Joe and Link were surprised to find out they were expecting twins.
The pregnancy was unplanned and they had discussed waiting a while before considering having more children.
So when they were already raising two toddlers, it was understandable that the thought of raising two more children was overwhelming.
However, this pregnancy storyline has the potential to change Joe’s character development.
She was abandoned by her mother and basically raised by herself.
Then the husband she thought would never leave her stayed behind without even saying goodbye.
Her daughter Luna came to her through loss and adoption, a difficult process.
At times, Jo was convinced she wouldn’t be allowed to adopt Luna, which only increased her self-doubt.
If the writers decide to have Joe and Link have the twins without any major disaster, we’ll see Joe go through something completely new.
There’s no reason to think Joe would love or treat the twins the way Luna or Scout would – biology is definitely not a prerequisite for family.
I just wonder if making the biological connection for the first time will be a revelation for Joe.
Whether it’s about her health, her past, or an exploration of the postpartum period for someone with a history of depression, there’s an opportunity here to tell a unique story.
Where does the intern stand?
After last week’s events, it’s clear that the interns are dealing with their own challenges.
First there’s Ben, who comes back to life after crossing town at Station 19.
It’s hard to judge where he stands since it seems like he should be further along than the other interns.
But now that he’s trying to get his act consistent, maybe it’s a good thing he’s starting over.
Mika is understandably preoccupied with her sister’s cancer, and her friends are doing everything they can to support her.
Jules is balancing the pain of heartbreak with her love for Mika, proving that she’ll be there for her no matter what.
Lucas is still trying to find his place in a world where he doesn’t think he’s good enough.
I hope Winston, Richard and Nick can provide him with the support he needs to find his confidence.
Simone is as talented as ever, but Ndugu’s harsh words about her last week will always haunt her.
I’m curious to see if this experience will cause a rift between Griffith and Bailey.
Blue…well, he’s looking for himself.
After cutting off his relationship with his ex-fiancée, he was finally able to move on and stop holding on to so much guilt. Hope so.
A wonderful hour is coming
Grey’s Anatomy hasn’t had a major disaster or tragedy in a while, so I’m hoping this helicopter crash will be a real thrill.
