NBC is taking a deep dive into the murderous world of suburban garden clubs with the Grosse Pointe Garden Society.
Based on the trailer alone, we’re already invested.
It’s hard to tell what a show is about from a 60-second trailer, but its appeal and rich cast mean we should be looking at one of the buzziest shows of the 2024-25 TV season. one.
According to NBC, the new hour-long drama “tells the story of four members of a suburban garden club who find their lives marred by scandal, pranks and a shared secret – a murder that no one wants to talk about. ——intertwined.
Oh my God!
“As dark truths begin to rot their lives beneath the surface, they try to stay as perfect as the flowers blooming in the garden.”
Grosse Point Garden Society will premiere on NBC on Sunday, February 23 at 10/9am.
Episodes will also be available on Peacock and we’re sure many viewers will find this show.
The outstanding cast includes Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), AnnaSophia Robb (Carrie), Ben Rapaport (For the People), Matthew Davis (“Legacy”), Alexander Hodge (“Insecure”), Aja Naomi King (“Chemistry”), Nancy Travis (“Last Man Standing”) and Felix Avedia (“The House of Crows”).
See the full trailer below.
Of course, King is best known for starring as Michaela Platt opposite Viola Davis in all six seasons of How to Get Away with Murder.
When we first heard about her casting, we were worried about being cast in a similar role, but her character is actually a complete 180° from what we originally expected.
She’s a masterpiece in Chemistry Class, so if you haven’t seen it yet, we highly recommend it.
Grosse Pointe Garden Society From the people who brought us Desperate Housewives
The series is created by Jenna Bans (Desperate Housewives, Scandal, Good Girls) and Bill Krebs (Good Girls).
All three shows have great soap hooks and deeply intertwined mysteries, so we’re eager to see the finished product from their collaboration with Grosse Pointe Garden Society.
All signs point to it being a hit, and boy, this TV season really needs a breakout hit.
Matlock and High Potential both generated decent ratings for their respective networks in the fall, but broadcast networks typically save their main attractions until midseason.
NBC to launch major shows in 2025
NBC has also tapped “The Hunting Party,” starring Melissa Roxburgh, to air later this year. The show focuses on an underground facility called “The Pitt” that houses some of the most notorious criminals.
The inciting incident is when the pit is blown up and the criminals begin to escape, forcing a group of agents to try to arrest them before committing another crime.
There are hints of blacklisting in there, and we’re not disturbed by that.
Like many other networks, NBC has had a rough season as live TV ratings continue to decline, leaving shows like Discovery and Irrational on a bubble.
Can the Grosse Pointe Garden Association and Hunting Party grab a spot on next season’s schedule?
It will all come down to numbers.
