He added: “Anyone could have played this role, except there were two people who were supposed to play it for this specific movie at this specific time.
Speaking about the casting process, Chu said, “As we were auditioning everyone, we found that the song was so important in this movie and so emotionally important to the movie, so whoever did it had to It’s so easy and buttery to get into the song and song, like you don’t even notice it, which means their skills are good.
After going through the audition process with countless actresses, Chu felt that Granda and Erivo had what it took to play these roles, and they did not disappoint.
