What program is this? Who is the author? How do high potentials continue to improve with each episode? There aren’t enough words in the English language to describe how amazing this show is.
If there’s a mama bear you don’t want to mess with, it’s Morgan Guillory. Especially when she’s looking so beautiful as Miss Morgan when it comes to bringing criminals to justice.
“High Potential” walks the tightrope between hilarious comedy and thrilling drama with all the grace of a potential long-running series.
This show is filled with so much emotion that it’s easy to go from laughing to crying. If you ugly-cryed this episode, don’t worry—I did too.
Morgan and Karadek’s sibling energy keeps the story moving
We can all agree that Karadek and Morgan have finally found middle ground. So much so that they rub against each other.
Captain Selina delivers this message to Karadek: “She had an effect on you.” However, the reverse is also true.
Did you notice how Morgan quickly put on his gloves before picking up the evidence? Or how she already thinks like a cop to the point where she can guess what Karadek is thinking?
In High Potential Season 1 Episode 4 spoilers, I say that Karadek and Morgan are starting to feel more and more like siblings. This episode pretty much confirms that.
Whether they trust each other or not, it’s clear they have a lot of respect for each other. Beyond that, I think they already care about each other without even realizing it.
One of the best things about this episode is seeing Karadek (Daniel Sunjata) go into full detective mode. Instead of constantly telling Morgan not to touch anything or to be quiet, he was able to focus on the case.
While the world-building and brawling are fun for a while, it’s good that the series keeps the story moving forward.
Things are finally progressing in the bureau, and the supporting cast is finally supportive.
Karadek isn’t the only one in investigative mode. I talk a lot of crap about high potentials because they exclude Daphne and Oz. Thankfully, they become more prominent with every episode.
I need high potential to give Oz a little more screen time. I haven’t finished watching the cast’s scenes from Season 3 of Ghost.
All hands on deck are working together to issue an Amber Alert. Even Captain Selina (Judy Reyes) was very active in this episode, seemingly waiting for updates around every corner.
However, she could have avoided Detective Mellon, who was absent from “Survival Mode”. Last time we saw him, he was annoying Selina while investigating Morgan’s missing partner.
However, we don’t see the good captain working on the case this episode. Selena needs to pick up the pace because there aren’t many episodes in the first season of High Potential.
She was lucky this time as Morgan was busy going into mama bear mode, but the chances of more kids being caught were slim.
Morgan is a mama bear with endless potential and an open heart.
Oh my gosh, we see a different side of Morgan this time. But is it a lack of sleep or a relationship with another mother that’s making her emotional?
The answer is probably a bit of both. First of all, kudos to the writers for continuing to show how Morgan struggles with his own mind. Everyone wants a fast brain, but no one wants its drawbacks.
A restless mind is hell itself. Anyone who hasn’t slept in several days knows how quickly logic and rationality can disappear.
Combined with her motherly instincts, Morgan actually kept her calm. There are clear moments where she is exercising self-control so as not to lose it.
When she caught her mom Mia (Madeline Zima) trying to sell an antique for some quick cash, I thought Morgan was going to beat the crap out of her. You can see it, right? The fire burned in her eyes.
I’m glad mom only got the ransom, is that weird? This is better than a mother kidnapping her own child.
I’ve said it from the beginning, and continue to see it in every episode, that Morgan’s heart is as big as her brain – maybe even bigger.
Kaitlin Olson gives a career-defining performance
Morgan revealed a ferocity underneath her animal print and knee-high boots. She won’t take bullshit from anyone and won’t tolerate the suffering of innocent people.
Love her or hate her, but Morgan is a well-crafted character, portrayed brilliantly by Kaitlin Olson.
I’ve been looking for clues to the actress’ previous roles, but Morgan is unlike anything Olsen has done. Her performance in this episode, somewhere between tears and rage, was incredibly touching.
Even though her children don’t appear until the very end, you can feel Morgan’s love for them throughout the episode.
When she immediately jumped on the box, there it was. It’s there when Morgan works to prove Mia is not a suspect. It was definitely there when Morgan went with Mia to meet the kidnappers without hesitation.
Sure, Morgan has an inhuman intelligence, but what she brings to the precinct is a warmth that prevents the job from crushing your soul.
It will be interesting to see how Caradek and Morgan’s relationship develops as the series continues.
Isn’t that one of the best parts of a show that has lasting power? See how the characters evolve and grow to meet each other like family?
High Potential is ABC’s top show that continues to exceed audience expectations. While there’s no news of a renewal, I have no doubt this series won’t be going anywhere.
That’s great, because I haven’t forgotten that Kaitlin Olson’s previous project, The Mick, was canceled. This is a grudge that I cannot let go of for the time being.
Regardless, you already know I’ll be glued to my seat and soaking up every incredibly high-potential moment. So, don’t be shy about speaking your mind about the show.
