director Chad Stahelski Recently revealed his upcoming Highlander reboot and shared some new details about the movie’s plot. He also talked about how he persuaded Henry Cavill Join the project.
While a lot of people don’t like Hollywood remakes of classic movies, there’s a lot of excitement surrounding this movie because of the talent involved.
“We’re going to take it from the highlands of the early 1500s to present-day New York and Hong Kong and see how it works,” Stahelski told The Direct.
“There’s a great opportunity for action. A chance to play a character that very few people play. It’s kind of like a love story, but not what you think. On John Wick, I learned a lot about how Knowledge that slightly changes the story telling.
As for how he convinced Cavill to star in the film, he explained: “My selling point was, [Cavill]look, you have a man who has lived for over 500 years. He was the last person in the world who wanted to be in this situation.
“So you can cover a pretty broad character arc there. You can experience someone who has been training and playing ball for over 500 years. [with many types of] Martial arts.
Yes, I signed up for this program too! This sounds like a really cool character! The producers also teased the action in the film, explaining that it will be inspired by the action in the John Wick movies.
“I’m going to keep the core stuff,” he said. “Most viewers, and I would use the metaphor of a gun, most of the gun fights or car chases you know, because most of us are not going to be involved in gun fights or car chases, or sword fights, We learn through movies.
“About 95 percent of what those movies show you is bullshit. You’re not going to fight 50 guys with your bare hands and walk away, but it’s fun. It’s wish fulfillment.
“John Wick, we know it’s a cartoon – I know it’s not – but we’re enjoying it too. But we do tactical heavy duty, we try to do fire control, just like the pros and the military That’s what we’re doing. But we’re going to have fun with it, you know? It’s very similar with swordplay.
Cavill has previously said that the script for the film is “extraordinary” and that the film will undergo some “big changes.” He said: “I am a Highlander Fans, they are both very entertaining movies. Obviously I watched them when I was younger and re-watched them later, as well as the TV show.
“I really liked the story behind it, the feeling of a tragic warrior who had more of a story to tell than just a cool guy with a sword doing cool things, which was even deeper.
“The work they’ve done and the work we’ve done so far in developing the script has been phenomenal and I think people are going to be very, very happy.
“Big moves are important, you play it safe and you say, ‘Well, I guess that’s OK?’ But if you make big moves, people are going to love it or hate it.”
Stahelski also previously revealed that the film will include familiar characters and “elements” taken from the 1990s TV series.
“We are trying to tell our story,” he said [and it] A lot of the same characters involved and stuff like that. But we also brought in elements of all the TV shows. We’re trying to do some prequel settings for The Gathering.
The Gathering refers to the culmination of a near-eternal battle between the immortals. He went on to explain that they are doing all this to expand and grow the story: “So, we have room to grow the industry.”
“We’ve been kicking around ideas for days about how to take the coolest characters and make it into an epic TV show. I just think it’s a very, very rich mythology.
Stahelski also explained, “I think the show has a lot of great things going on between the audience and all the different types of gods that are not in the feature film. Before we brought that into the feature film, we How to put it into feature mode.
“Okay, let’s break it into pieces and restructure it, let’s treat it as a TV series, let’s treat it as a high-end trilogy. How do we tell The Gathering, The Quickenings “, the story of “The Immortals”, and how do we actually build a better world than the original project?
“That’s what we’re retooling now. It’s taking all the good stuff that was in the script before I came on this project; redeveloping the script to give us a really good first, second and third chapter; and expanding the world .
Original version 1986 Highlander movie starring Christopher Lambert, connolly, and Clancy Brown As immortal beings, they are hunting each other down and gathering more power. The film’s classic tagline is: “There can only be one.”
He also talked about his vision for the film, saying: “The vision that we wanted to convey and what we wanted to develop, I think is very close to Star Wars. The first one was a very satisfying ending. , but it does leave the door open, that’s how I see it.
“I really wanted to expand it to more than three. I saw the party happening at three o’clock. It’s tricky, don’t get me wrong, that’s why we’re still developing it. We want to be able to tell the story of three A complete story that fits together.
“I think Star Wars trilogy, at least up to empire strikes backis a good example of how we want to handle it.
It is revealed that the film’s release date is 2026.
