Starting on Tuesday (January 7), large-scale wildfires broke out in many parts of Los Angeles County, displacing more than 180,000 residents. The wildfires have reportedly destroyed thousands of properties and claimed 10 lives, with emergency crews still battling the blazes across the region.
A growing number of organizations are stepping up to raise funds and provide resources to those affected by disasters. Here’s a list of the latest ways to help residents, first responders and members of the city’s music community.

Support for home and outdoor workers
inclusive action A GoFundMe has been launched to provide cash relief to outdoor workers affected by wildfires. The Emergency Assistance Fund will provide $500 in cash assistance directly to “outdoor workers” – people whose jobs require them to work outdoors, including street vendors, landscapers and recyclers.
it’s about human nature Launched a fund to support frontline and secondary migrant, day laborers and other essential workers and their families who have been severely impacted by the recent fires in Los Angeles. Through January 31, TIAH will match donations up to $50,000 to provide emergency relief, housing support, food assistance and essential resources.
Los Angeles Unified School District Education Emergency Relief Fund Immediate assistance is being provided to families and Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) employees affected by the devastating fires. The fund will provide direct cash assistance and support to families and employees affected by the fires; support teachers and classroom resources to maximize continuity of learning for students in affected schools; provide resilient mental health support assistance; and Provide support for other immediate and long-term needs of students, families and teachers.
Support for first responders
Donate to Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation Heroic firefighters will be supported in their immediate response to protect lives, homes and communities.
California Fire Foundation We are working with local fire agencies and community organizations to provide direct financial support to affected residents as details of the damage emerge. The Cal Fire Foundation also provides critical support to the surviving families of fallen firefighters, firefighters and the communities they serve.
Necessities for families in need

Sweet Relief Musicians Fund A natural disaster relief fund has been launched for music professionals in Los Angeles County and surrounding areas. Funds raised will be used to assist those who have lost music-related equipment as well as fire-related medical expenses and other important living expenses. Pasadena Community FoundationThe Eaton Canyon Fire Recovery and Relief Fund is mobilizing local resources to support resiliency and near- and long-term recovery plans in the cities of Pasadena and Altadena in Los Angeles County.
PLUS1LA The Fire Fund will help local nonprofits provide shelter and care to people who have lost their homes, including personal protective equipment to prevent smoke inhalation, food, clothing, diapers, formula, hygiene products and mental health support to help those coping with trauma . In the long term, it will support efforts to help individuals, families, communities and the environment recover from damage.
