2023 short films I like rough It’s a comedy of pain. It’s a play on words, not just physical comedy, and it’s well acted. Everything about this works. The moment it “went off the rails” I laughed.
But behind the laughter lies pain.
Oh yes.
story
I like rough From a young age; Jordan and a young woman, Ciara, enter her apartment after a night of drinking. Looks like they had more than just a nightcap.
This is a “one-night stand” in the making.
until.
Cast
Natasha Shafsma plays Ciara.
Keith Anthony Murphy is Jordan.
behind the camera
Shafsma and Sierra Dane co-directed this hysterically funny short. Schaafsma earns no less than 6 credits here I like rough. Writing, directing, starring, producing, styling and stunts. *Seven if including art direction. *
Murphy pulled double duty while performing his own stunts, while music was provided by Nelson M. Olivares Alfaro.
The two directors made this work outstanding. Like a Timex watch or a business card case (if you’re under a certain age), it runs like clockwork. Cinematographer John Paul Quill put his all into this film.
I like rough Edited by Rik Schoonhoven, who never misses a beat. The action is fluid and fun. The stunts are excellent, fun, and, let me admit here, really funny.
stunts
“This manifesto is about showing the importance of the intimacy coordinator on set and the importance of the stunt coordinator,” Shafsma said.
There is very little dialogue. It’s really just used to set the scene and add the “punchline.” *See what we did there? I like rough All Fire: Stunts, action, comedy and a clever ending. Keep an eye on Shafsma. She is on her way up.
judgment
If I could give this more than 5 stars out of 5; I would. Sadly, my own review is that I can only give it 5 stars out of 5. I like rough has concluded its festival run and can be found on YouTube. Come check this out. It’s 3 minutes of pure fun.
