Sony Music Publishing has opened a new office space and creative hub for songwriters in Los Angeles.
SMP said the flagship store, located in Hollywood’s historic Media District and just minutes away from the iconic vinyl record district, “is a testament to SMP’s commitment to promoting creativity and collaboration.”
The new SMP Los Angeles office space is located in what SMP calls “a thoughtfully designed century-old building” that has been “customized to enhance the creative experience.”
Sony Music Publishing said the design reflects the company’s “enduring heritage while embracing a modern vision to be the premier service company for the world’s most influential songwriters and composers.”
The design was developed in close collaboration with studio architects WSDG and design collective RIOS.
The new creative and songwriting center features five dedicated writers’ studios, six listening rooms, and a state-of-the-art recording studio with a large control room, two separate recording studios and artist lounge.
SMP says each creative suite “maximizes acoustic performance” and is equipped with what SMP calls “cutting-edge systems” and production equipment.
The creative suites are located next to collaborative offices and social areas, which SMP says will foster interaction between creators and staff.
“Our focus is on creating an environment that fosters the talent, vision and purpose of our songwriters and staff.”
Jon Platt, Sony Music Publishing
Commenting on the launch of the new creative center, Sony Music Publishing Chairman and CEO Jon Platt said: “Our focus is on creating an environment that nurtures the talent, vision and purpose of our songwriters and employees.
“Our goal is to build a space that supports songwriters from start to finish, welcomes creators, and supports their needs. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve built as a team.
SMP added that the expansion is part of its ongoing support of the company’s songwriters around the world, noting other recent developments and enhancements in multiple regions, including the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Nashville, Spain, Colombia, Sweden, South Africa, India, etc.
