Finn Wolfhard (stranger things) and billy brick is gearing up for a remake of the 1999 horror-comedy film Idle Hands for Sony Pictures, and Jason Reitman Already set for production.
Wolfhard and Brick may also end up directing the film after the festival hit sold out hellish summerwhich they co-wrote, co-directed, co-starred in and produced.
Reitman previously collaborated with Wolfhard and Bryk on both titles Ghostbusters Movies and recent releases saturday night. Gil Keenan will also occur.
The original film tells the story of Anton Tobias, a lazy, drug-addicted teen who becomes possessed by his right hand and goes on a murderous spree.
Desperate to stop his Hand from killing someone on his own, Anton tries to control Hand’s violent impulses, starting with his parents and best friend, but things spiral further out of control when his Hand completely detaches and begins to live. own.
With the help of his resurrected friend and lover Molly, Anton attempts to end the carnage. The film’s blend of slapstick, gore, and campy horror created a cult classic, known for its irreverent tone and tongue-in-cheek “controlled hands” trope.
I imagine the remake will tell the same story in a different, more modern way. This seems like a project that the creative team would be interested in.
