Lainey Wilson got a little help from friends during the Thanksgiving halftime show at the Cowboys-Giants game, inviting Jelly Roll to perform their hit duet “Save Me.”
Duet – Top Rank advertising billboardTop Country Songs for two weeks last year – was part of a five-song set Wilson performed at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which kicked off with “Heart Like a Truck.” Wilson, dressed in all white, wearing a white cowboy hat and long white coat, sauntered onto the court. When she took the stage for “Straight Up Sideways,” she took off her jacket and danced with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
Following “4x4xU,” Jelly Roll took to the stage to sing along to “Save Me.” It was clear that the pair felt very comfortable performing the hit song, which has been a hit for over a year, as they confidently delivered the harmonies and delivered the song’s emotional message.
“The Incredible Lenny Wilson!” yelled Jerry Rolle as they finished the song, before he walked off the stage to make way for Wilson’s final song, “Wildflowers and Wild Horses.”
In 2023 interview advertising billboardJelly Roll tells the story behind the Whitsitt Chapel duet, explaining that he was really looking for something to save himself – and writing the song was part of that process. “I was in the middle of it – I knew the lifestyle I was living was unsustainable,” he said. “I needed to change my life and this was my personal cry for help. Thankfully now I can say I have made a lot of positive changes but I am still a work in progress.
Earlier in the day, Schabzi hosted the halftime show of the Lions’ Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Bears at Ford Field in Detroit. Next up, the Packers will face the Dolphins at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
