The NFL announced during the Thanksgiving broadcast on Fox (November 28) that Jon Batiste will sing the national anthem before the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans on February 9.
In addition to the five-time Grammy Award-winning artist’s performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the NFL also features Louisiana natives Trombone Shorty, Lauren Daigle and Ledisi as part of the Big Game’s pregame entertainment. Baptiste’s Grammy Award-winner Ledisi will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at Caesars Superdome.
“We are honored to partner with this year’s pregame lineup to celebrate the rich musical heritage of New Orleans and the entire state,” NFL music director Seth Dudowsky said in a statement. “The Super Bowl is a platform that unites fans around the world. In a rare moment, this year’s performers will bring the energy, soul and vibrant sounds of the region to the global stage, allowing us to kick off Super Bowl 59 with an unforgettable celebration.
Baptiste is retiring Beethoven blues album, earning the 38-year-old his first number one advertising billboardClassical Albums Chart. The project is the first in a series of upcoming solo piano albums by Batiste.
Kendrick Lamar will headline the Big Easy’s highly anticipated Super Bowl LIX halftime show. The Apple Music halftime show is produced by Roc Nation and Jesse Collins.
