Surveillance footage released by the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department captured the incident on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge.

The 62-year-old man, who was filming a music video at the time, and another man approached the woman and calmly convinced her to walk off a cliff in the Cumberland River.

After about a minute of dialogue, the video shows Bon Jovi and another man helping the woman climb back onto the railing. The singer then hugged her and comforted her as they walked off the bridge together. Police confirmed the woman was later taken to receive mental health care.

“Hats off to @jonbonjovi and his team who helped a woman on the Seigenthaler Ped Bridge Tuesday night. Bon Jovi helped convince her to come down to safety from a ledge on the Cumberland River, Nashville police shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Nashville Police Chief John Drake praised the singer, saying, “We all need to help keep each other safe.”

Bon Jovi’s involvement in rescue is perhaps unsurprising given his extensive philanthropic work through the JBJ Soul Foundation, which focuses on helping those affected by homelessness, hunger and other crises.

The act of kindness further endeared Bon Jovi to fans, many of whom took to social media to praise the “Living on a Prayer” legend.

When Bon Jovi isn’t saving lives, he remains a long-time fixture in the music industry. As the lead singer of Bon Jovi, one of the world’s best-selling rock bands, he has four Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits, including classics such as “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “You Give Love a Bad Name” song. Earlier this year, the band released the album foreverthe album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart.
