Powell has previously spoken about the project, saying: “I’ve been a fan of Edgar Wright my whole life. And talking to him about it running Manwhat’s truly incredible is his take on it. This is not Schwarzenegger’s original film, it is more based on the Stephen King (novella) version.
“While I loved the original 1987 film, it was very different from the story King wrote, so I’m very excited that Wright’s film will be closer to the source material.”
Wright previously discussed his vision for the film and how he wanted it to be a true adaptation of the book, saying: “I think in this day and age, it’s like, you know, I think when a remake does a great job Hershey is if there is anything else to add or a different take.
He continued: “So I think the problem lately is sometimes like remakes are just retreads of the original movies, and I’m not really excited about a lot of them because they feel like karaoke versions of the original movies.”
Wright added: “Obviously in the 1970s and 1980s they were additive, e.g. Philip Kaufman’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers or John Carpenter’s thing or David Cronenberg’s fly; It’s taking something and doing something interesting with it.
He continued: “In terms of what I’ve been doing, as you know, running man This is something that is actively being developed. Why am I so interested? I liked the movie, but I liked the book even more, and they didn’t really adapt the book.
“As a teenager, when I saw the Schwarzenegger movie, I thought, ‘Oh, this doesn’t look like the book at all,'” he said. “I don’t think anyone had adapted the book.
“So when the question came up, I think you know, Simon Kinberg said ‘Are you interested? running man? I said, “You know I often think of that book as just crying out for an adaptation.” Now that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy, but like what we’re trying to do, yeah, I would say that many.
The film also has a cast Carl Glusman, Katie O’Brien and Daniel Ezrarelease date is November 21, 2025. Wright also co-wrote the script with Michael Bacall and will produce with his producing partners Nira Park and Simon Kinberg. George Lind will executive produce.
