Josh Mateer has been promoted to Head of A&R for SoundOn, TikTok UK and Europe
The executive’s expanded responsibilities will see him lead signing strategy and artist development in all major European markets.
Mateer will join TikTok in 2022 Warner Music GroupThere, he held various A&R positions for eight years, most recently as A&R Manager/R&A Director.
He previously served as head of UK A&R for SoundOn, the music distribution service launched by TikTok in 2022.
Mateer’s promotion is the latest in a series of recent high-level promotions at TikTok and its music distribution service.
In August, Charlotte Stahl was promoted to head of artist and label partnerships for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for ByteDance’s short-form and social platform TikTok.
Also in August, Toyin Mustafa promoted to role Head of Music Partnerships TikTok UK, Ireland and SSA.
Douyin also promoted Nicha Sethi role SoundOn Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Commenting on his promotion in a social media post, Mateer said: “In over two years at SoundOn I have launched and led A&R for the UK and have been extremely privileged to work with some incredibly talented artists, managers, labels and Working alongside my colleagues, I am very proud of what I and the wider SoundOn team have achieved so far.
