The album earned 319,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Nov. 28, according to Luminate, the year’s sixth-biggest debut. The album’s first week was driven primarily by streaming activity, with the 12-song album’s launch having the third-biggest streaming week for any album in 2024. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multiple consumption metrics measured in equivalent album units compiled by Luminate. Units include album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit is equivalent to the sales of an album, or 10 individual tracks sold on the album, or 3,750 ad-supported tracks or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs on the album. Lamar has topped the Billboard 200 chart Mr. Morale and Strider (2022), Damn it. (2017), No title, no owner (2016) and pimp a butterfly (2015). In early 2024, he hit both No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 with his solo song “Not Like Us” (in May), and soon after with the co-released collaborative song “Like That” at the top of the list. Both songs are not included in GNX.
GNX Prior to that, Lamar will headline the Super Bowl halftime show on February 9, 2025 in New Orleans. He was announced as the star of the September 8th celebrations.

Of all the soundtracks in 2024, evil is the second soundtrack to enter the top 10 this year and is the highest-charting soundtrack, followed by tornado (Peak No. 7) August.
