Kendrick Lamar’s first GNX Compton Rhymes represents his city in the “Squabble Up” video, which was released on Monday (November 25).
Inserted into Debbie Deb’s 1984 bop song “When I Hear Music,” “Squabble Up” is considered Lamar’s early standout work GNX album, and he didn’t waste much time releasing the Calmatic-directed music video a few days later.
In the visual, K. Dot dances in a blue hoodie and fitted hat, alongside a Highway 105 traffic sign shot from the road. Dancers joined him, performing intricate choreography by members of Charm La’Donna and the Blood gang in an open pickle green room.
There’s even humor sprinkled into the clip as Kendrick sits down to read an article. How to Be More Like Kendrick Goofball book, then he held up a sign that read, “Jesus Saves Gangsters, Too.”
Fans have tried to dissect the hidden meaning behind Kendrick’s promotion of the Compton Christmas Parade, while others have pointed out that the image appears to be inspired by Threat II Society and Ice-T’s 1988 strength album.

Sounwave and Jack Antonoff are credited as co-producers on the infectious song, which is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart next week.
GNX Kendrick already has two No. 1 singles to his name in 2024, with Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” and “Not Like Us.”
