The King of Tulsa Season 2 Episode 6 brings us into the home stretch of Season 2, and the stakes are rising even more than expected.
The sit-down between the three warring factions went well and everyone left the meeting with a smile on their face, but Bill thinks he screwed himself over in the process by succumbing to Dwight’s charm.
Carl, the most stressed out guy with a crazy new business partner, wasn’t even involved in the process. How can it solve any problem?
To my shock, King of Tulsa Season 2 Episode 5 skipped right past the aftermath of Jackie murdering someone right under Carl’s nose.
What’s even more shocking is that when he’s already seen what Jackie is capable of, he still gets as arrogant as he did to Jackie in “Navigator.”
Sure, Chicky foolishly gets a handgun (strapped to his leg) through the TSA, and Bill scoffs at Dwight’s focus on local cuisine, but Carl is an absolute lunatic in this situation.
Of all the men we’ve met so far, Jackie scares me the most. He is cold-blooded and calculating like no other.
Carl may be close behind. Neal MacDonald perfectly sports a smile that belies his crystal blue eyes. His smile was more like the Smile movie than sharing real feelings with another human being.
So how did Manny get sucked into his orbit? Well, money is the answer, but with strings attached like this, I’d rather take care of myself.
Manny mistakenly believes that he is on good terms with Carl, as if Carl gave him the fifty pounds out of the goodness of his little Three heart.
In my review of The King of Tulsa Season 2 Episode 3, I pointed out that Manny should have discussed his money problems with Dwight instead of accepting Carl’s “help.”
What kind of child are you? Seriously, are you that fucking stupid? Everything in life is transactional. Do you really not know?
— Carl Thresher
Manny still thinks Dwight is a bigger threat than Carl, or at least he did until his latest chat with the heartless bastard. This only proves that Manny is a poor judge of character. There’s a lot of that on Tulsa Gold.
Is there a way for Manny to allow himself to be “owned” by Carl while constantly taking shots at Dwight’s activities? I don’t understand how he could do this. If he seriously thinks Dwight is the more significant threat, that should prompt him to attack Carr.
I don’t know if Dwight would take him on, but it’s worth asking if he could be Dwight’s double agent while begging and pleading for his life.
I’m a head-in-the-sand kind of girl myself, so I would play this potential scenario in my head for so long that it could cost me my life. Hopefully Manny is different.
Manny has a connection to Margaret, so killing him would put whoever does it under the microscope of Margaret’s world. Sometimes it’s worth paying a little sympathy to get the girl.
The preparation and sitting down itself were relatively uneventful.
Chickie didn’t even attend the meeting. Vince had no attraction for either Dwight or Bill, while Dwight was fascinated by Bill Bevilacqua. So, things worked out just as you thought.
But after the meeting, trouble arose between Vince and Chicky (who became even more unhinged at this point), and Bill regretted making the deal with Dwight.
I checked the price of marijuana and found the following: Prices typically range from $500 to $1,000 per pound for low-quality weed, $1,000 to $2,500 per pound for medium-quality weed, and $2,500 to $5,000 per pound or more for high-quality weed.
Linden grass cannot be inferior.
So $575 per pound seems like a pretty good deal to Bill, assuming he has high-quality marijuana that typically sells for $3,000. In addition to this, there is an overall operating maximum discount of 15% in exchange for security and distribution.
Bill even got his hands on some fake Ozempics (is it the mob selling all the knockoffs on Facebook?) to sweeten the deal.
I laughed when he told Vince that he heard the surgery failed after Pete died, but he had no idea it was that bad. Maybe Facebook knockoffs are mom-and-pop stores that thugs will avoid. 🤣
I almost forgot that Joanna wanted to take the weed shop in a different direction by shipping CBD oil directly through the website. It was big business and a brilliant move.
Although Bodhi scoffs at her weed-related herb growing techniques, if you have a green thumb, you have a green thumb!
Regardless, Dwight is a delightful gangster who temporarily wins over Bill with his speech about local food and milkshakes. Will this last?
You are different; I will give you so much
— Bill Bevilaqua vs. Dwight Manfredi
I really like Frank Grillo and Bill has some redeeming qualities, unlike Carl. I don’t want Bill to go back to Dwight’s bad side because I’d like to see him stay with the Tulsa Kings for season 3.
Bill’s surgery was more interesting than Carl’s. Carl is a thug (I laughed when he said that about Dwight), but Bill has a family. He and Dwight could work well together, even from afar.
I guess time will tell.
While all this was happening, Tina was taking charge of her own safety and that of her family.
She is her father’s daughter. I don’t understand how he could think she had a general as a father and wouldn’t be familiar with gangster terminology. Apparently, he also had his head in the sand.
Having a gun was a smart choice, especially since it allowed her to fight alongside Mickey. I barely remember her husband, but wasn’t he a bit silly?
Mitch is clear-headed, and it will be interesting to see Dwight’s reaction as Mitch gets closer to Tina. Maybe that’s a little bit of validation when Mitch says, “She’s a beautiful woman; it’s an honor.
Now we come to the “Navigator”.
Did another Taylor Sheridan performance just kill Michael Beach? If so, he bit the bigger one twice in a row. Come on, man!
But was he killed? I’m no explosion expert, but from what I could see in the front seat of the car, it was relatively untouched. Well, it’s as unaffected as the exploding part of the car.
It’s possible that he survived, and not just because Beach died twice in such a short period of time in Taylor Sheridan’s universe, which was too contrived for Beach to do.
This hurts Tyson because it affects Tyson. He and his father had been at odds over his relationship with Dwight for some time, but this was the first time Mark acknowledged it.
Tyson was excited to do something for his dad with no strings attached, and he was even more excited when his dad accepted his gift.
Worst of all, Tyson had seen the white car before but hadn’t paid enough attention. He recognized it in front of the house, showing that he had indeed noticed it.
But why would you notice a damn Prius? What self-respecting bad guy would be caught dead in one? It makes me wonder if this is some kind of one-time goal that has nothing to do with the current situation.
There is no doubt that Tyson will blame himself for the role he played in what happened to his father. This will be where the rubber meets the road. Any remaining sweetness in Tyson may be lost because of this tragedy.
He wants to step up and this will push him further towards that goal.
Unfortunately, things only get more dangerous as time goes on, so he’ll step up to the plate in dangerous moments – assuming Dwight lets him step up to the plate in this situation.
Who attacked Dwight? Without Carl’s help, would it be Jackie? There didn’t seem to be enough time for Carl, Bill or Chiqui to make the calls. Bill and Chiqui are still shocked by the results of the sit-in, while Carl is generally reluctant to kill people.
Now where will this shocking twist take us? If you enjoyed the Tulsa Kings this season, please leave me a comment below to share your thoughts.
