I’m shocked just thinking about it.
As a resident of Pittsburgh, I think everyone already knows that Kingston’s mayor has been re-elected. They’ve been casting here for a while.
When I took the Hallmark cruise I was convinced I had missed my renewal. Well, I was wrong. I’m sorry for keeping you lovely people in the dark. Mike McCluskey will be back for more!
Part of my surprise is that I thought it was common sense, but part of it comes from the near-perfect conclusion of The Mayor of Kingston season three.
It’s a well-thought-out ending, filled with all the revenge and farewells you’d expect in any good drama, let alone one by Taylor Sheridan.
Sheridan’s influence was incredible.
In addition to “Kingstown”, he has also become Paramount+’s most important asset with films such as “Tulsa King”, “1923”, and “Lioness”.
- Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 8 Spoilers: Elsbeth may have moved on to another hilarious case, but Judge Milton isn’t done investigating her just yet
But what can we expect from this particular story?
The Mayor of Kingston Season 3 Episode 10 reveals how corrupt Kingston is even among its good people.
Pain is a crossing point in Kingston. The mental anguish and physical scars take a heavy toll on citizens, as does the prison system that keeps it running.
Good guys do very bad things in Kingston, putting them on par with the bad guys they’re trying to contain.
Relationships like Mike and Rabbit show the importance of bringing enemies closer to solve larger problems.
- How will Spencer Reed return to Criminal Minds: Evolution?
But how long will this last? Kingston is small and has long been crumbling under the weight of its burdens.
Jeremy Renner endured physical torture to return as Mike McCluskey in season three, and his performance confirmed his commitment to the story.
Mike’s monologue at the beginning and end of the finale could have ended the show on a high note, but it makes just as much sense that he was forced to go on with the “Damn if you do–” And if you don’t, he has to Take responsibility for keeping others safe.
Mike seemed at peace with his decision. Would another season mean he’d waver in acceptance of his actions and cause him more pain?
- 13 movies that are so bad but so good
For now, we don’t have any theories about where the story will go next. Maybe you will.
Let us know in the comments below if this is a good move or if you hope Mike finally gets a chance to rest.
