Even though it’s only two days away, “it’s hard to wait for Christmas.” Just ask this mother-daughter duo, who have an entire song about practicing patience and remembering what Christmas means to their families — amid the dazzling displays of holiday gifts and treats.
Together, Eisler and Hillary led the group in delving into their mother’s personal Christmas memories from childhood, as well as the memories they created together with their family of five. (Hilary Scott and Chris Tyrell have three children: Ethel, Betsy, and Emery.)
A fun highlight of their chat was Hillary recalling the best Christmas gift she ever received as a child and how magical it felt to be so surprised.
“I didn’t expect Santa to bring this,” she said of a dazzling gift of Barbie dolls arriving from the North Pole. “Because how the hell does it fit in a sled? Somehow it does.
As a young girl, Hillary often sang Christmas carols with her family in the neighborhood. She remembers the first time she sang in a studio when she was 15 years old, making a Christmas record. Mom’s traditional experience is sung in the Christmas song “Hard to Wait for Christmas” (now available on Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Amazon Music and YouTube Music).
“I want to start making Christmas music again now, and it feels good to be with you,” Clinton told her daughter during the interview.
“It was my first time experiencing it with you, so it felt new again, and it was really exciting – I got to stand by and be a proud mom and watch you feel so comfortable and wonderful in that environment. singing…I mean, I’m so proud [Lady bandmates] charles [Kelley] and dave [Haywood]but like, I really proud of youbecause you are my girl,” Hillary shared with Eisler.
