Lainey Wilson will perform during the halftime show of the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game against the New York Giants on November 28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The game will air on Fox and will serve as the official kickoff for the Salvation Army’s 134th Red Kettle Campaign. The halftime show, a 28-year tradition with the Cowboys, highlights the start of the Red Kettle holiday season, and the Salvation Army has raised more than $3 billion since the launch of the Red Kettle Kickoff.
Wilson will perform songs from her new album with an unnamed special guest whirlwindwhich debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 in August and also scored a few seasonal hits.
“I am honored to follow in the footsteps of legendary performers like my friend Dolly Parton, the Jonas Brothers and Reba and launch The Salvation Army’s iconic Red Kettle Campaign,” Wilson said in a statement. Join me at Red Kettle Bar this Christmas because we really can do more when we work together to serve those in need in our community. ”
In a video posted on her and the Cowboys’ social media sites, Wilson pretended to be training to become an honorary cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys. Wearing blue Dallas Cowboys bell-bottoms, she practiced a routine with the cheerleading squad, breathlessly asking if she was the first person to try it in bell-bottoms.
“Performers like Lenny Wilson represent the next generation of role models for many,” added Charlotte Jones, chief brand officer and co-owner of the Dallas Cowboys and former national advisory board chair for The Salvation Army. “We are so grateful for her energy and enthusiasm on our national stage this year to highlight Red Kettle launches and the importance of giving back to those who need it most.”
Parton played in the Thanksgiving halftime show last year. The Cowboys-Washington Commander game attracted 42 million viewers.
