Captain Olivia Benson and her team are back, and there’s a lot to look forward to as the show’s 26th season approaches!
Where can we find the team when the season starts?
SVU is investigating a brutal attack on a group of law students; Benson hopes to solve the case by discovering hidden cameras; Carisi’s best chance at convicting him is to catch the defendant lying.

This summer, Kevin Kane, who plays Terry Bruno, was promoted to series regular, which means we’ll be seeing a lot more of Bruno, as well as a greater evolution of his character since he first appeared on the franchise.
So what can we expect from the show’s 26th season?
Kelli Giddish returns as Amanda Rollins, who left the Special Victims Unit to become a criminology professor at Fordham University, but later found herself in the role of a criminology professor in Season 25’s “Prima Nocta” returned to assist Captain Benson in handling the case. Audiences first met Detective Rollins in Season 13 after Benson’s partner Elliot Stabler left.
According to showrunner David Graziano, Giddish will make “multiple appearances throughout the season.” Rollins will assume a role in the NYPD’s intelligence unit and “as part of that job, he will travel frequently.”

This season the team has a new face. Juliana Aidén Martinez joins the cast as Detective Kate Silva, and while not much is known about her character at the moment, we imagine she has to pass Captain Benson test and prove himself to be a valuable and loyal member of the SVU squad.
The premiere is going to be an interesting one.

What will happen to Captain Benson’s career? Olivia has been working for almost 30 years, what does the future hold for her?
Benson fought for himself, for women, and girls, rising from detective to sergeant to captain while devoting his life to raising his son, Noah. If the opportunity arises, Season 26 could highlight Benson’s need to take the next step in her career.
What about Benson’s love life? Will someone from the Organized Crime Control Bureau show up?
There’s no official word yet on whether Olivia’s old friend and ex-partner Elliot Stabler, with whom she had great chemistry, will appear. Christopher Meloni, who plays Detective Stabler on Law & Order: Organized Crime, is writing the second episode of season five and said Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) will appear. Benson and Stabler have long had a “will they? won’t they” romantic dynamic, and fans are hoping next season will be a major turning point in their relationship. In this season, will Benson face his feelings and give himself a chance to fall in love with Stabler? Only time will tell.
“Law & Order: Unit” airs Thursday, October 3 at 9/8c on NBC.
