Despite their split more than a decade ago, Danielle Pizer says she and her ex Liam Payne will always stay in touch. Pizer posted a tribute to Penn over the weekend, just days after the former One Direction singer and solo star died at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
“This still doesn’t feel real,” Pizer, who she dated on and off during his 1D peak in 2013, wrote in an Instagram post about Payne’s death. “Despite knowing your struggles over the years, I hoped and prayed that this day would never come. But now we are all faced with the reality of life without you.
Payne died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday (October 16). Investigators believe he may have been under the influence of a substance when he fell, but they are still awaiting further toxicology reports.

She described how the former couple made each other angry, but over the past 14 years they had learned to accept each other’s traits.

She also seemed to acknowledge Payne’s publicly discussed struggles following his 1D days, in which he described struggles with mental health and substance abuse. “It takes you longer to figure out who you want to be in order to be the happiest person you can be, but while most of us don’t learn about ourselves until our teens and twenties, you’re Those years of giving more to the world than you ever give will ever take,” she added. “I want you to know that you are always more than enough for the world and you don’t have to look for a role to play just to please others.”
The letter ended with Pizer thanking Payne for “teaching me the importance of setting boundaries and allowing me to always protect my heart.” She said she received a message from Payne a few weeks ago saying, In the message, Payne expressed his happiness at her marriage to DJ Sonny Jay and their six-month-old daughter Mia.
“I’m sorry your story didn’t end differently,” Pizer lamented. “I’m sorry you didn’t get to share more of your magic with the world. Rest in peace, my friend.
The message also expressed love for Payne’s seven-year-old son Bear with his ex-girlfriend, Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole, as well as his family and sisters. “Of all his great successes, his most important role and the thing he was most proud of was that he was a father,” she said. “The thought of a child now growing up without a parent is heartbreaking and unfair.
