Organizers of Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky were forced to cancel the next day of their rock festival due to severe weather caused by Hurricane Helene.
The four-day event at Louisville’s Highland Festival grounds was canceled on Friday (Sept. 27) as 50 mph winds blew into the area and the remnants of Hurricane Helene brought heavy rain.
“Loud family, we are sad to share this news, but the weather is not working against us today. We have been working closely with meteorologists and local authorities, holding out hope that we will be able to open our doors, but continued gusty winds have kept us from doing so. Stay safe moving forward. “We know how disappointing this is – and how painful it is for us. But your safety and the safety of our artists and staff will always be our number one priority.
Louder Than Life’s Friday lineup includes performances from Slayer, Till Lindemann, Anthrax, Evanescent and In This Moment. Organizers note that single-day ticket holders can attend the festival on Saturday or Sunday, but they must wear their original Friday wristband to gain entry.
Saturday’s line-up includes performances from Mötley Crüe, Falling in Reverse, Disturbed, Chevelle, Dropkick Murphys and Mastodon. Sunday will be set by Korn, Judas Priest, Breaking Benjamin and Staind.
Louder Than Life launches on Thursday (September 26) and features performances from Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, The Offspring and Halestorm. However on Friday, organizers warned on social media: “Rest assured we are monitoring the situation closely and will provide an update as soon as possible. Parking, gates and set times will all be adjusted and we are committed to doing so safely. Rock on with you ASAP.
On Thursday, a spokesperson for the film festival told media courier magazine The event “is designed to handle rainfall, but lightning and wind will cause us to need to suspend the event. We will always make the right decisions to ensure the safety of our fans.”
