We just entered 2025 a few days ago, but Lifetime is wasting no time in releasing new movies as part of the cable company’s Lifetime slate.
The sure-to-be-iconic films will feature “the voices and legacies of three of music’s most influential talents.”
Notables include Mary J. Blige, Lisa Lisa and Gloria Gaynor. All three women have had decades-long careers in the music industry, so they have a unique perspective on the industry that will help inform these films.
Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair – Premieres Saturday, January 25, 8/7c
Mary J. Blige’s family affairs begin to unfold as Kendra (Agiona Alexus) and Ben (DaVinci) move out of the city in hopes of finally living together.
With family around them and integrated into their lives, tensions mount as they battle fertility issues, with Kendra trying to stand by Ben’s son Miles.
Their relationship reaches a boiling point when Ben secretly helps his brother Kendra return to the city and an old friend returns to her life. The family must work together to help Kendra and Ben save their relationship and stay true to their true love.
It sounds like an exciting movie, and we’re sure it’ll be even more exciting because it’s actually inspired by Mary’s iconic hit “Family Matters.”
The film also reunites the couple who starred in Mary J. Blige’s Love Actually and Mary J. Blige’s Power of a Woman, so we’re sure the film will have a regular cast Audiences, who eagerly await where these characters will go next.

Lisa’s best friend and backing vocalist Toni Ménage (Bre-Z) has been by her side throughout her journey to the top. Tony’s unwavering support helped Lisa learn how to take control of her professional and personal life.
This true story of two best friends who refused to let themselves be destroyed by the entertainment industry is full of twists and turns and ends with the triumph of two people who refuse to give up on their dreams.
This sounds like another winner for Lifetime, but we’ll reserve judgment until it premieres next month.
