Lil Wayne’s omission from Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show became a talking point within hip-hop circles. Wayne himself admitted that he was “hurt” by the NFL’s decision not to let him perform in his hometown, while others like Nicki Minaj, Master P, Cam’ron and more have also come out to support the new star Orleans rap god.

LL Cool J watched an episode with Fat Joe Fat Joe speaks Among the many topics discussed on Friday (October 18), Weezy was snubbed as K. Dot headlined the Super Bowl.

The “Loungin” rapper sent flowers to Wayne, but is happy with how Kendrick is doing now given the numbers he’s put on the board this year. LL believes Wayne will eventually get his chance as well.

“[Lil Wayne’s] He is one of our great artists and an incredible writer. He’s going to make his day – let Kendrick get this,” he said. “Here’s the thing: your time will come [and] You will have your day…you will have your time. You can’t let yourself collapse. The only reason it makes me laugh is because I know how lucky he is and how successful he is. So he didn’t need to worry about that moment. It’s just a moment, man. It’s just a moment.

LL Cool J mentioned how he had not been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in years before his 2021 breakthrough.

“These are champagne issues. Some people can’t listen to their demos. I think we’ve been a little bit spoiled unintentionally,” he admits. “Wayne is the best of the best.”

The NFL and Roc Nation announced Kendrick as the headliner for September’s Super Bowl, and a devastated Wayne took a few days to calm down before speaking out.

“That hurt. It hurt. You know what I’m saying. It really hurt,” he said in a video posted on Instagram. “I blame myself for not being prepared for disappointment. … But I thought there was nothing better than that place, that stage, that platform in my city, so it hurt.

Watch LL talk about Kendrick making Super Bowl headlines instead of Lil Wayne in the video below.
